Abetone
The mountains
of Pistoia, covered with silver-fir and beech woods in the highest
zone, leave room for moor-lands and prairies. Nature offers numerous
alternatives: skiing in winter, while in summer it is possible to
discover stupendous views by hiking along the numerous pathways.
This zone is beautiful in all seasons. In winter it is its most
spectacular, with the snow-covered peaks of Abetone, equipped with
chair-lifts and numerous accommodation facilities. At the
announcement of spring, it “explodes” in an unexpected florescence.
The oldest tradition are kept alive, and life there still fully
respects the human dimension. In the valley bottom, Pistoia- a city
of ancient tradition that abounds in Romanesque monuments – has
become, since the past century, a lively artisan and agricultural
centre.
Situated
between Pistoia and Lucca, the territory of the Valdinievole
consists of numerous little historic towns and a varied and complex
rural landscape. The large plain is the site of renowned floral and
nursery cultivation. The spa and well-being activity is the most
evident attraction: the beneficial power of the waters, which has
been known since antiquity, has made Montecatini a watering place
and well-being/fitness centre of great national and international
renown.
Pistoia
well-protected as it is on the slopes of the Appennine
ridge, it is the ideal place fro convention and leisure activities
at any time of year. Abounding is gastronomic specialities and DOC
wines, this region is appreciated for the local artisan products,
which are a characteristic of central Tuscany. Visits to both the
Pinocchio Park at Collodi and the magnificent garden of Villa
Grazoni are definitely worthwhile.
