Five
little buildings tightly connected together, refurbished leaving
their characteristics untouched: this is Vignabella. The small
houses were born in different ages, since the beginning of the XIX
to the first decades of the XX century (the last one dates back to
1917); they are made of stones and the rooms dimensions are those
given by the old builders. Between the old wine cellars and the ...

All' estremo Nord

Massa
e Carrara
Located in the
extreme north of Tuscany, this land has a coast with vast, well
equipped beaches between the cities of Massa and Carrara and a
mountainous territory: the Lunigiana, which has a ancient history
and preserves numerous examples of artistic treasures. This is due
to the fact that, during the Middle Ages, it was the principal
junction connecting Europe with Rome, by means of the Via Francigena.
In addition to representing one of the most important economic
sources in the territory thanks to the marble preserved in the
quarries, the Apuan Alps constitute a place of extraordinary
naturalistic beauty. The Magra river is an attraction for
excursionists and for those who enjoy aquatic sports. Not to be
missed are visits to the Cathedral in Carrara, the Cathedral in
Massa, and in Lunigiana, to the Ethnographic Museums of Villafranca
and to the Stele Statues at the Castello del Piagnaro at Pontremoli,
seat of the renowed Bancarella literary prize. Besides fish dishes,
the cuisine also offers esteemed products, such as “testaroli” the
typical Colonnata fat, honey, and top-quality wines, of which Candia
is the most well-known.
